The 13th Annual Above & Beyond Awards Ceremony, hosted by the Detroit Public Safety Foundation, will be held on November 13, 2025 at Ford Field. This annual event allows the community to honor members from the Detroit Police Department (DPD) and Detroit Fire Department (DFD). ​

First responders are recognized for their distinguished service. The Medal of Valor award recognizes the best of the best for extreme bravery in the face of danger. The Purple Heart award showcases the danger associated with the job honoring those severely injured or killed in the line-of-duty. The Emergency Medical Merit Award is for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) division to honor members for exceptional service. The Public Safety Distinguished Service Award, for one member from DPD and DFD, goes to someone who has gone above & beyond in service to the community. Nominations for this award will be submitted from the community. ​​

The Public Safety Partner Award and City Change Maker Award is presented annually to two community partners who are making significant contributions to Public Safety in Detroit and to the City of Detroit in various ways. ​​​
